Is Privacy Dead? with Josie Fraser
Being present and collaborating online is increasingly part of our daily social and economic lives. The ability to connect with others, to share information and communicate at professional and organisational levels across technological platforms have been identified as critical skills for the future workplace and of the amplified individual. This talk looks at the impacts and current discussions about what being so visible online has on our understanding of personal privacy and what being an amplified individual might mean terms of shifting social practices.
Josie Fraser is an independent Social and Educational Technologist. Her recent work has included delivering the Government's national guidance to schools on cyberbullying. She has worked in association with Bebo, Facebook, Google, and Yahoo!, supporting educators in the evaluation and understanding of of social networking services. She also works with the Higher Education sector exploring how social media tools and practices can be used for collaboration across universities and to establish frameworks of practice. Her work focuses on the role digital identities and communities can play in facilitating learning and social participation.

On Thursday April 15th we pointed www.amplifiedleicester.com away from this site and towards the new Amplified Leicester community at Ning - http://ampleic.ning.com
Then that evening, in a stroke of unanticipated bad luck, as we were relaxing after a highly successful Showcase event announcing the change and the Ning was filling up nicely with new members, Techcrunch announced that Ning was becoming a paid-for service: Ning’s Bubble Bursts: No More Free Networks, Cuts 40% Of Staff
This morning, Saturday 17th, Ning is unavailable altogether and is reporting an internal server error.
Has the Icelandic ashcloud reached cyberspace, or at least Ning space?
As a result, this morning I repointed the url back to this site for the weekend but feel free to keep trying http://ampleic.ning.com
More as I know it. Sorry about this! Please feel free to discuss here in Comments.
